This Page is dedicated to interviews or talks by 20th and 21st century philosophers. Needless to say, I do not always agree with the positions that these philosophers defend. (Rarely do philosophers entirely agree with one another.) But given that UP@NIGHT often touches on philosophy, I thought this would be a good addition to the site. From time to time I will update this page.
Bertrand Russell – Message to Future Generations
Simone de Beauvoir
The Putnam-Rorty Debate and the Pragmatist Revival (Several philosophers interviewed, including Putnam and Rorty.)
John Searle – On the Philosophy of Language
Hannah Arendt (Fascinating interview, but if you don’t speak German, check out comments on its YouTube site regarding issues with the translation.)
Jürgen Habermas – On democracy and his philosophical roots
Noam Chomsky and Michel Foucault
Nancy Fraser – Marx and Feminism
Cornel West – On Philosophy (Interviewed while in a car driving through NYC.)
Robert Brandom (In these comments on his book, Making it Explict, Brandom discusses the relationship between Hegel and Pragmatism about 8 minutes into the interview.)
Jacques Derrida – Fear of Writing
